In light of a growing trend of online real estate fraud, York Property Management is urging the public to exercise caution. Scammers have been using authentic images of our properties retrieved from our website to create fake listings on Kijiji and Facebook marketplace aimed at tricking prospective renters.

These schemes often involve:

  • Stolen listing photos
  • Unrealistic pricing/Too good to be true
  • High-pressure tactics for fast deposits or personal details
  • Requiring an application fee

If you spot any of these warning signs, pause and verify the legitimacy of the listing before proceeding. Trust your instincts - scammers often count on urgency to lower your guard.

To help prevent further harm, York Property Management has shared quick tips to verify legitimacy:

  • Trust Only Official Channels - Always check if the listing comes from our verified website, social media accounts and Facebook Marketplace listings
  • Contact Us to Verify -  Not sure? Give us a call at (519) 432-2690 or send us an email at info@yorkproperty.ca or a direct message on our social media accounts
  • Be Wary of Deals That Seem Too Good to Be True - If it feels off, it probably is.

Anyone who suspects a fraudulent listing or has encountered one using York Property Management's property photos is encouraged to report it immediately.

York Property Management remains committed to maintaining transparency and protecting our tenants and prospects across all platforms.
